Baseball Recap: Greely Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

It's playoff time, and Greely had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Leavitt Hornets with a sharp 12-1 victory on Thursday. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

Keeler Vogt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Greely got a big performance out of Kyle Soule, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Wes Piper was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Greely was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leavitt only posted a batting average of .158.

Greely has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Leavitt, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Coming up, Greely will face off against Lake Region on Saturday. The Lakers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Rangers surely won't give up without a fight. Leavitt does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
