Recap: Shaw Raiders vs. Spencer Greenwave
The Shaw Raiders's game on Wednesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Spencer 50-48. For Shaw, this counts as revenge for the 66-51 loss Spencer walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Shaw's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tiara Tucker led the charge by scoring 25 points along with four steals. The contest was Tucker's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Quishyi Walcott, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Spencer's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexandria Berk, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Nadra Rosser was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Spencer were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Shaw's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Spencer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-2.
Shaw and Northside will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Spencer and Washington will round out the year against one another at 1:00 p.m. on December 30th at. Washington will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
