Softball Preview: Montesano Bulldogs vs. Elma Eagles        
        
		
            
 Montesano has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will  face off against the Elma Eagles at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. Montesano is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 8.3  runs per game  this season.
 On Saturday, Montesano earned  a  7-3 victory over Rochester.
  Grace Gooding looked comfortable as she  tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit.
 At the plate,  Addi Kersker was  excellent,  scoring a  run while going 3-for-3.  Carsyn Wintrip was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while going 1-for-3.
 Meanwhile,  it may have taken  nine innings to finish the job, but Elma ultimately got the result they hoped for  on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Pe Ell/Willapa Valley out  7-6.
  Ashlynn Weld made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  only two  hits over four innings pitched. Weld has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Weld was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Mia Monroe, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was  Raelynn Weld, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 3-for-5.
 Montesano has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won seven of their last eight games,  which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record  this season. As for Elma, their record now sits at 10-4-1.
 Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging  on Monday. Montesano hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season,  having  averaged 0.5  home runs per game. However, it's not like Elma struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 0.6. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
 Montesano took their  win against Elma  in their previous matchup  back in April of 2023 by a conclusive  12-6. Does  Montesano have another victory up their sleeve, or will Elma turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
