Clinton Central and Clinton Prairie are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gophers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clinton Central's last matchup with Delphi Community could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Wednesday. The Bulldogs came up short against the Oracles, falling 13-3. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Oracles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Clinton Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nuriah Harvey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Clinton Prairie made easy work of Lafayette Central Catholic on Wednesday and carried off a 17-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Gophers, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Clinton Prairie got a massive performance out of Kaydence Kesler, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Kesler a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Perez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Clinton Prairie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lafayette Central Catholic only posted an OBP of .381.
Clinton Prairie has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Clinton Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
Clinton Central took their win against Clinton Prairie in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-3 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gophers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
