Softball Game Preview: Ligonier Valley Rams vs. Mt. Pleasant Vikings

For the first time this season, Ligonier Valley will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mt. Pleasant Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Ligonier Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Deer Lakes with a sharp 12-5 victory on Monday. The Rams not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 14, 2024.

Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cougars, sneaking past 5-3.

Danica Trainer 2027 made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Trainer 2027 wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kendell Waters 2027, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Mt. Pleasant hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive contests.

Ligonier Valley's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Mt. Pleasant, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Ligonier Valley skirted past Mt. Pleasant 2-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
