Recap: Kelso Hilanders vs. Rogers Rams

After losing to the Rogers Rams the last time they met, the Kelso Hilanders decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The stars were shining brightly for Kelso in a 67-48 win over Rogers on Friday. Given Kelso's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Rogers is ranked 103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Rogers lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dylan Gilderhus. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. The match was Gilderhus' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amanna Anusiem, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.

Kelso's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Rogers, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

Kelso will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Cascade at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Cascade's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Rogers will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bethel at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Bethel is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
