Softball Recap: Octorara Area Braves vs. Ephrata Mountaineers

Octorara Area extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Ephrata Mountaineers, falling 8-0. If the Braves were looking for revenge after losing 15-14 to the Mountaineers when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Ephrata, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.0 runs this season.

On the hitting side, Ava Baker was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Emma Showalter was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Octorara Area will challenge Muhlenberg at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Ephrata, they will take on Palmyra at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
