Football Preview: Quitman Panthers vs. Magee Trojans
The Quitman Panthers will take on the Magee Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Quitman knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Magee likes a good challenge.
On Friday, everything came up roses for Quitman against St. Andrew's Episcopal as the team secured a 42-8 win. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Saints are ranked 246th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of Quitman's victory came down to the chemistry between Bryce Gavin and his top target Shunzarious Dear. Gavin threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns while Dear picked up 63 receiving yards and three scores. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Dear a new career-high.
Quitman's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB five times. Brytyavis Dear was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Despite a strong season so far, Magee has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 30-27 heartbreaker at the hands of Seminary. While the Trojans had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Bulldogs 14-0.
Quitman will have to contain Travon Magee as he made an impact in Magee's last game. He threw for 247 yards and a pair of TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground.
Magee's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Quitman, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
