Volleyball Recap: Ashlyn Riewer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wakefield over Elkhorn Valley

Wakefield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They came up short against the Elkhorn Valley Falcons, falling 3-0. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Falcons when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Wakefield was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Elkhorn Valley's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-14, 25-23.

Wakefield lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ashlyn Riewer, who had 15 digs and one assist. She has been hot, having posted 13 or more digs the last seven times she's played. Ruby Boeckenhauer also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Wakefield's loss dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Elkhorn Valley, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Wakefield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Howells-Dodge on the 16th. As for Elkhorn Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Pierce on the 16th.
