Baseball Recap: McDowell Comes Up Short

If McDowell was riding high fresh off their 14-2 takedown of North Buncombe last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. McDowell fell just short of the Erwin Warriors by a score of 11-9 on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.

McDowell got a big performance out of Tryp Young, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Drue Rose also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Young wasn't the only one working in the hit department: McDowell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

McDowell now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Erwin, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McDowell will host Owen at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Erwin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McDowell at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
