Basketball Game Preview: Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes vs. Greenfield Knights

Cape Fear Academy hasn't had much luck against Greenfield recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes are taking a road trip to take on the Greenfield Knights at 7:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Cape Fear Academy ended up a good deal behind Wayne Country Day and lost 59-43. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Chargers are ranked 46th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenfield). They blew past Arendell Parrott Academy, posting a 91-36 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Greenfield pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.1 points. As for Cape Fear Academy, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-10.

Cape Fear Academy came up short against Greenfield in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 72-61. Can Cape Fear Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
