Gainesville won the last time they faced Van Alstyne and things went their way on Friday too. The Gainesville Leopards enjoyed a cozy 71-53 win over the Van Alstyne Panthers.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gainesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bugg Kemp, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Kemp has posted since back in December of 2023. Max Neelley was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards.

Gainesville was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They racked up six more assists than Van Alstyne's also-impressive total of 12.

Van Alstyne's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keith Godfrey, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Tim Moore, who scored 14 points.

Gainesville now has a winning record of 18-17. As for Van Alstyne, they dropped their record down to 7-25 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Gainesville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 63-60 loss against Aubrey on the 11th. As for Van Alstyne, they have also already played their next game, a 60-50 defeat against Sanger on the 11th.
