Basketball Recap: Kendall Jones Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat St. Agnes Academy

After losing to St. Agnes Academy the last time they met, Briarcrest Christian decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Briarcrest Christian Saints walked away with a 58-48 victory over the St. Agnes Academy Stars on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saints.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Briarcrest Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kendall Jones, who went 6 for 13 to rack up 15 points along with seven steals and five boards. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Reagan Newby, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Briarcrest Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Briarcrest Christian's win bumped their record up to 13-8. As for St. Agnes Academy, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-18.

Coming up, Briarcrest Christian will head out to challenge Hutchison at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hutchison knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Briarcrest Christian likes a good challenge. As for St. Agnes Academy, they will face off against St. Mary's Episcopal at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
