Preview: Richton Rebels vs. Mize Bulldogs
The Richton Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Mize Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Richton has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while Mize will arrive with four straight victories.
Last Friday, Richton ended up a good deal behind Collins and lost 28-12.
Meanwhile, Mize can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past North Forrest, posting a 43-13 victory at home. Mize pushed the score to 43-6 by the end of the third, a deficit North Forrest cut but never quite recovered from.
Mize's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamiyon Gray, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown. Gray was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Hancock, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Richton's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Sacred Heart and 8-1 Loyd Star (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.9% over those games). As for Mize, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Everything came up roses for Richton against Mize in their previous meeting back in November of 2018 as the team secured a 49-14 win. Will Richton repeat their success, or does Mize have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
