Football Recap: Joe Weber's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Taft over Arvin + How To Watch

Taft scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 40-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Arvin Bears. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost three in a row.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joe Weber, who picked up 164 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 69 yards. Weber's longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards. Garrett Massey was in the mix too, providing Taft with two scores.

Arvin had a senior duo take command as Xzavier Brooks picked up 195 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns and Andrew Rosales threw for 350 yards while picking up 15.2 yards per attempt. Those 350 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Rosales.

Taft's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Arvin, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taft will challenge Cabrillo at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. After each having a week off, Arvin and West will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on the 26th. The Bears' defense better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 34.8 points per game this season.
