Baseball Game Preview: Oakwood Lumberjacks vs. Twin Valley South Panthers

The Oakwood Lumberjacks will head out to square off against the Twin Valley South Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Oakwood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Twin Valley South's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Oakwood is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Madison just ended the team's 12-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 12-7 to the Mohawks. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Lumberjacks, who until this matchup were averaging 3.82 runs allowed.

Josh Tribble made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Briggs Beam, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Twin Valley South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Newton Local, falling 13-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 23, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Twin Valley South saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Day, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Oakwood suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 13-3-1. As for Twin Valley South, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Oakwood couldn't quite finish off Twin Valley South when the teams last played back in May of 2021 and fell 6-4. Can the Lumberjacks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
