Baseball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Victorious

After low-scoring totals in their previous five contests, Sunrise Mountain brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. Everything went their way against the Democracy Prep Agassi Campus Blue Knights on Monday as Sunrise Mountain made off with a 13-3 victory. The Miners not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15, 2024.

Zidro Solis made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Solis was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Elton Whitehead was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Hernadez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Sunrise Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sunrise Mountain's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunrise Mountain will challenge Del Sol at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sunrise Mountain's pitchers better be ready for this one: Del Sol has averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, they will take on Mater Academy East Las Vegas at 3:30 p.m. on April 1.
