Softball Recap: Riverside Has No Trouble Against Gainesville

Riverside had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Gainesville on Monday. The Ram blew past the Cardinals 14-1. The result was nothing new for the Ram, who have now won six matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Kaylee Kadans looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ashley Bui, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Skinner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Riverside's record now sits at 9-5. As for Gainesville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverside will host Potomac Falls at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gainesville, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Osbourn at 6:00 p.m.
