Baseball Recap: Wesson Gets the Win

The matchup between Wesson and Bogue Chitto on Tuesday hardly resembled the 3-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Cobras sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-12 win over the Bobcats. The Cobras' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Aiden Wallace and Dawson Selman made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Wallace pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Selman pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wallace has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season. At bat, Wallace went 3-for-5 with three runs, while Selman went 4-for-6 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave Selman a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Levi Lockhart looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Baylor Smith, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Parker Brooks also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Wesson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Wesson and bumps their season record up to 3-1-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Bogue Chitto, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Wesson will take on West Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bogue Chitto, they will square off against Enterprise at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
