Football Recap: Vista Drops Season-High Score on Fallbrook

Vista had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-9 to make it nine. They took a 40-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fallbrook Warriors. On the bright side, the 27- point effort marked the Panthers' highest-scoring contest to date.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was William Calderon, who threw for 222 yards and one touchdown while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 39 yards and one TD. Another back making a difference was Broc Schweikhard, who rushed for 113 yards and one score on only 15 carries.

As for Fallbrook, their record is now 3-6. The matchup marked their most dominant win of the season.

Grant Hall was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 185 yards and four TDs. Those 185 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Teague Lucy, who picked up 106 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vista will head out to challenge Rancho Buena Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fallbrook, they will venture away from home to square off against Westview at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Wolverines will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
