Basketball Recap: Peoria Comes Up Short

Peoria extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Monday, dropping them down to 0-9. They were beaten by Paradise Honors 74-12. While losing is never fun, Peoria can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while Paradise Honors is ranked 37th).

As for Paradise Honors, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 23 points or more this season.

Lizzy Guincho had another great game (as she tends to do), almost dropping a double-double with 17 points and nine steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 19 times she's played. Hala Aoufe was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peoria will take on Cactus at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup will give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Paradise Honors, they will challenge Thunderbird at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
