Baseball Game Preview: Northwestern Wildcats vs. Girard Yellowjackets

Northwestern hasn't had much luck against Girard recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wildcats will look to defend their home field against the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m.

Northwestern is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Corry.

Kaleb Stout was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Girard hadn't done well against Fort LeBoeuf recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Yellowjackets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Bison. While the Yellowjackets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Girard let Levi Potter and James Kibbe run wild. Potter went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run, while Kibbe went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Girard is undefeated when Kibbe posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Maher, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Girard's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Northwestern, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
