Baseball Recap: Monarch Comes Up Short

Monarch had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-17-1 to make it five. They lost 12-6 to the Pine Crest Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 14-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.

Noel Soledispa and Champ Brown did some serious damage despite the final result: Soledispa went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Brown went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That double was Soledispa's first of the season.

As for Pine Crest, they now have a winning record of 9-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for they.

On Pine Crest's side, Michael Marber was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Marber was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Pine Crest: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jake Milton, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. Max McCawley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Monarch and Pine Crest are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Knights will square off against Olympic Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pine Crest, they will take on Saint Andrew's in a tournament on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scots have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
