Recap: Howland Tigers vs. Boardman Spartans
Even though the Howland Tigers have not done well against the Boardman Spartans recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Howland walked away with a 52-42 victory over Boardman. That's another feather in the cap for Howland, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Howland was led to victory by John Perry and Alex Henry. Perry dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Henry dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Perry has scored all season. Anthony Chieffo was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Boardman lost, one person who can't be blamed is Grayson Eicher. Despite the final result, he scored ten points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Ziak, who scored six points along with three steals.
The win got Howland back to even at 7-7. As for Boardman, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Howland will challenge Harding at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Boardman, they will head out on the road to square off against Louisville at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Louisville's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Boardman has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
