League recap: Maranda throws longest pass in league this season for New London

Danny Maranda and Jose Garcia* provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Waterford. The connection was good for 96 yards, the longest such play in Eastern Connecticut - Large this season.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Norwich Free Academy beat Stonington 63-35. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Wildcats.

New London's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Maranda threw for 321 and 4 touchdowns and Garcia* had 151 yards receiving. On the ground Orinn Parke* contributed 117 yards. Nico Ramos* helped New London's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 92 yards.

He was 12-18 with 0 interceptions.

Ramos* was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Whalers defeated the Lancers. He grabbed 1 interception.

Garcia* was the best receiver in the league this week as New London defeated Waterford. Garcia* racked up 4 receptions for 151 yards. Ramos* helped New London's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 92 yards.

New London's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Whalers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Maranda has thrown for 1,659 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, while Garcia* has 36 catches for 662 yards.

East Lyme's Eric Stirten is a mere 82 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 141 carries Stirten has accumulated 918 yard this year.

At the moment, the Whalers are in second, while the Vikings are in third.

Norwich Free Academy took down the Bears 63-35 last week, the largest margin of any game.
