Soccer Game Preview: Lafayette vs. Live Oak

The Lafayette Lions will take on the Live Oak Eagles in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lafayette's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Lafayette is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: St. Thomas More, who was ranked 16th at the time (Lafayette was ranked 24th). Lafayette and St. Thomas More finished up their game with a 2-2 draw on Tuesday. The result kept the Lions happy, as they haven't lost a game since November 22nd.

Meanwhile, Live Oak was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were one goals away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Fontainebleau. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one goal.

Lafayette's draw makes their record 2-1-4 this season. As for Live Oak, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Lafayette beat Live Oak 2-0 in their previous meeting back in January of 2021. Will Lafayette repeat their success, or does Live Oak have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
