Basketball Recap: Del Campo Takes a Loss

Del Campo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They had to suffer through a 77-44 loss at the hands of the Roseville Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-52 back in January.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Vincent Seyford, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 11 points. Another player making a difference was Cole Dugan, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Del Campo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Matthias Howard was his usual excellent self, going 9-for-16 on his way to 21 points in addition to six boards and three blocks for Roseville. The dominant performance gave Howard a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Ritter, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Del Campo's defeat dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Roseville, they pushed their record up to 16-10 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Del Campo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-59 loss against Yuba City on the 10th. As for Roseville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-63 win against Nevada Union on the 10th.
