Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is North Pontotoc's Tenth in Last 11 Outings

While North Pontotoc put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Louisville. The Vikings blew past the Wildcats 14-0. Considering the Vikings have won 14 contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Hailey Pitts tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.

At the plate, Sadie Rhea was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlize Williams, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

North Pontotoc was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in four consecutive games.

North Pontotoc is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Louisville, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-11-1.

North Pontotoc will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
