League recap: Riverfield Academy tops Porter's Chapel Academy to extend winning streak

MAIS AA District 3 recap October 8, 2013

Adding to the longest winning streak in MAIS AA District 3 this week, Riverfield Academy beat Porter's Chapel Academy 37-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Glenbrook led the league in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on Glenbrook.

Arthur Jones had a great week catching the football as the Apaches fell to Adams County Christian. He caught 9 passes for 237 yards.

Regan Edwards threw for 453 yards and 7 touchdowns. He was 24-38 with 4 interceptions.

Edwards put up the best numbers through the air as Glenbrook fell to the Rebels. Edwards' favorite target this week was Jones, who caught 9 passes for 237 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Greg Tibbitt's team's Edwards and Jones have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Edwards has thrown for 1,984 yards this season, while Jones has 33 catches for 549 yards. River Oaks's Drake Porter leads the league in rushing yards with 561.

Going into this week's game against Claiborne Academy, the Apaches' Edwards needs 16 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.

The Mustangs made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,098 from 9,008. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 21-9 victory over Central Hinds Academy last week.
