Basketball Game Preview: Cary Academy Chargers vs. Charlotte Latin Hawks

The Cary Academy Chargers are taking a road trip to face off against the Charlotte Latin Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Cary Academy made easy work of St. David's and carried off a 73-50 victory.

Cary Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Julian Tweedy, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Rousseau, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Latin suffered their closest loss since November 28, 2023 on Thursday. They fell just short of Charlotte Catholic by a score of 74-72. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Cougars are ranked 15th).

Cary Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Charlotte Latin, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.

Cary Academy was dealt a bruising 91-58 loss at the hands of Charlotte Latin when the teams last played back in January of 2018. Can Cary Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
