Basketball Game Preview: Wray Eagles vs. The Vanguard School Coursers

Aaron Tena put forth a good effort for the losing side as he almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Fonte, who posted four points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Wray smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brush only three offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, The Vanguard School was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 71-66 to Banning Lewis Academy.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in JJ Wetters and Matthew Lebron. Lebron had a great game and went 10-for-22 en route to 25 points and three steals. Meanwhile, Wetters was balling out in the loss, putting up 26 points.

Wray's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points over those games. As for The Vanguard School, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-6.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Wray has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27 rebounds per game.
