Softball Recap: Shepard Beats Lemont for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Shepard extended their winning streak to six on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 15-3 in the process. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lemont Lemont HS a 3-0 shutout. For the Astros, this counts as revenge for the 5-3 win the Lemont HS walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

As for Lemont, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-5. The matchup marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

For Lemont's part, Sydney Kibbon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over eight innings pitched.

At the plate, Lemont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caroline Painter, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Shepard will take on Argo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lemont, they will challenge Lincoln-Way Central at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
