Recap: Lakeside Panthers vs. Grovetown Warriors
Even though the Lakeside Panthers have not done well against the Grovetown Warriors recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Lakeside walked away with a 42-30 victory over Grovetown. Given Lakeside's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Grovetown is ranked 326th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grovetown lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sanai McKenzie-Watson, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. McKenzie-Watson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
The win makes it two in a row for Lakeside and bumps their season record up to 10-2. As for Grovetown, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Lakeside and Augusta Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
