Preview: Forest Wildcats vs. South Sumter Raiders
The Forest Wildcats will play host again and welcome the South Sumter Raiders, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Forest is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South Sumter in Florida (Forest is ranked 186th, while South Sumter is ranked 486th).
Forest posted their biggest win since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 64-24 win over North Marion. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-7.
Forest can attribute much of their success to Jessica Colon, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Taleah Jones, who scored 13 points along with six steals. Jones hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Neveah Perez-llana, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 68 points the game before, South Sumter were a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They were dealt a 58-8 loss at the hands of Leesburg. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points South Sumter has scored all season.
Forest is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for South Sumter, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-10.
Everything came up roses for Forest against South Sumter in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 63-13 victory. Will Forest repeat their success, or does South Sumter have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
