Softball Recap: New Hope Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

New Hope had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the East Webster Wolverines. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since March 19th.

Kaselyn Harcrow was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, New Hope let Tatum McBride and Ava Mordecai run wild. McBride got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Mordecai got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedi Martin, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

New Hope's win bumped their record up to 15-12. As for East Webster, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. New Hope will square off against Pontotoc at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for East Webster, they will head out to take on Ethel at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last six games.
