Basketball Recap: Brookfield Takes a Loss

Brookfield was the 37-35 winner over Milan when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Brookfield Bulldogs took a 38-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Milan Wildcats on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 387th, while the Wildcats are ranked 176th).

Milan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mya Pauley, who made all 5 shots she took to post 16 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Pauley a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marian Dabney, who posted five points in addition to nine boards and eight assists.

Brookfield has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Milan, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.

Brookfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Brunswick at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Milan has already played their next matchup (against Green City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
