Baseball Recap: McCutcheon Comes Up Short

McCutcheon made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Harrison, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Mavericks fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mavericks have suffered against the Raiders since April 21, 2022.

McCutcheon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jon Riley, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

McCutcheon has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Harrison, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McCutcheon will square off against Kankakee Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Harrison, they will take on North Montgomery at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 2.8, the Chargin' Chargers 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
