La Vernia had won five straight  games  and  TY CARTER did his part to make it six on Friday. The Bears claimed a resounding  55-14 win over the Jones Trojans with plenty of help from  CARTER, who rushed for 249 yards and three  scores while picking up 13.8 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional  recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 100  rushing yards.
 One reason for the win was La Vernia's imposing  defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks.  VINCENT CAPPARELLI was especially locked on to Jones' QB and sacked him twice. CAPPARELLI also set a new season-high mark in  total tackles with nine. La Vernia got some further help from  BRYAR CRANE: he picked up  a  sack, made 15 total tackles (3.0 for loss),  and defended one pass.
 Although Jones took the loss, they still got scores from  Preston Alvarado and  Rudolfo Villarreal.
La Vernia's record is now 7-1. As for Jones,  they are  on  a  five-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 1-7.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. La Vernia will  challenge  rival Floresville  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Meanwhile, Jones is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Bay City  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
