Basketball Recap: Rangely Falls Despite Big Games from Clay Allred and Marcos Quintana

Rangely saw some tournament action on Saturday. The contest between the Rangely Panthers and the Evangel Christian Academy Eagles didn't end well, with the Rangely Panthers falling 66-52.

Despite the defeat, Rangely had strong showings from Marcos Quintana, who posted 14 points and eight boards, and Clay Allred, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Allred is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bradley Lambros, who scored seven points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Rangely smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

It was another big night for Boaz Galliart, who earned 22 points and seven assists for Evangel Christian Academy. Brock Jones was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds.

Rangely has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. The victory made it two in a row for Evangel Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 12-10.

Rangely does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Evangel Christian Academy, they will square off against Nucla at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Evangel Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
