Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Lions vs. Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets

The Liberty Lions will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Liberty is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Manchester Valley: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Liberty blew Manchester Valley out of the water with a 68-26 final score. The Lions pushed the score to 50-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mavericks had little chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, Chapelgate Christian Academy came up short against Century on Friday and fell 69-61.

Liberty will have to contain Bryson Milledge as he made an impact in Chapelgate Christian Academy's last game. He went 7 of 9 on his way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Davis, who posted 11 points.

Chapelgate Christian Academy dropped their record down to 5-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Liberty, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Liberty couldn't quite finish off Chapelgate Christian Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2016 and fell 52-50. Thankfully for Liberty, Jason Murphy (who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
