Basketball Recap: Eastmark Skates Past ALA - Gilbert North with Ease

Eastmark won the last time they faced ALA - Gilbert North and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Eastmark Firebirds breezed by the ALA - Gilbert North Eagles to the tune of 54-14. The Firebirds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 26 points or more this season.

Isabella Jackson was her usual excellent self, going 8 of 15 en route to 19 points and eight steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Anna LaFountain was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to four steals and three blocks.

Eastmark was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as ALA - Gilbert North only racked up three assists.

Saige Barney and Avery Laduke certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Barney posted nine points and three steals, while Laduke had two points. That was a full 64.3% of ALA - Gilbert North's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Eastmark has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.6 points per game. As for ALA - Gilbert North, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13.

Eastmark wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 68-24 victory against Poston Butte on the 20th. As for ALA - Gilbert North, they will face off against Crismon at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd.
