Basketball Recap: Halifax Academy Comes Up Short

Halifax Academy lost against Rocky Mount Academy last Wednesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Halifax Academy Vikings had to suffer through a 57-15 loss at the hands of the Rocky Mount Academy Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Eagles are ranked 56th).

Despite the loss, Halifax Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Payton Odom posted ten points and five rebounds.

Taylor Carmichael was her usual excellent self, putting up 30 points and six boards for Rocky Mount Academy. Carmichael has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Daza, who put up six points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Halifax Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Rocky Mount Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 19-0.

As of now, neither Halifax Academy nor Rocky Mount Academy have any future games scheduled.
