Baseball Recap: Martensdale-St. Mary's Now 20-2 over Last 22 Games

It's playoff time, and Martensdale-St. Mary had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Hillcrest Academy Ravens 18-8 on Wednesday. Considering the Blue Devils have won 22 matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Martensdale-St. Mary's is on a roll lately: they've won 20 of their last 22 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Hillcrest Academy, they moved to 13-6 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Martensdale-St. Mary's will challenge St. Ansgar on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Blue Devils 3.2, the Saints 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Hillcrest Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
