Baseball Recap: Sonoma Valley's Win Ends Nine-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Sonoma Valley never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against American Canyon on Tuesday. They walked away with an 11-7 win over the Wolves. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Dragons' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Henry Foster looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cayden Waldrop was excellent, going 2-for-5 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Murphy, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Sonoma Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Sonoma Valley's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-15. As for American Canyon, they moved to 8-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, American Canyon will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Moreau Catholic at 4:00 p.m. The Mariners will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight. Sonoma Valley will be paying especially close attention to American Canyon's game: after American Canyon faces off against Moreau Catholic, they'll take on Sonoma Valley again at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
