Volleyball Recap: Montgomery Starts Season with Win Against Olympian

Montgomery took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They blew past the Olympian Eagles 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Aztecs have posted since April 18, 2024.

Montgomery never let Olympian on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-22, 25-21.

Montgomery's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jafer Vazquez led the charge by getting eight kills and three digs. Those eight kills gave Vazquez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryken Lusby, who had 19 digs and one assist.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montgomery will take on University City at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Olympian, they will face off against San Dieguito Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
