Softball Game Preview: Rochester Warriors vs. Hoquiam Grizzlies

For the second straight game, Rochester will face off against Hoquiam. Rochester will challenge Hoquiam at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rochester has four straight victories, Hoquiam has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Rochester's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Hoquiam with a sharp 12-0 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 12 runs or more this season.

Layna Demers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Rochester got a big performance out of Charlie Culp, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Piper Quarnstrom also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Rochester hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive contests.

Rochester pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hoquiam, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6-1.
