Volleyball Recap: Channel Islands Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Channel Islands lost to Carpinteria back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Channel Islands Raiders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Carpinteria Warriors. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Channel Islands was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 15-13.

Frank Vallin paced Channel Islands' offense, picking up 18 kills. Vallin got some help from Daniel Miranda and his 48 assists. Finally, Angel Saavedra kept Channel Islands' defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Channel Islands pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Carpinteria, they moved to 7-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

After both having extra time off, Channel Islands and Hueneme will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court one another at 6:00 p.m. on March 13th. Channel Islands is facing Hueneme at the right time seeing as Hueneme is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Carpinteria, they will head out on the road to challenge Malibu at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
