Softball Recap: Assumption Takes a Loss

Assumption extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-5. They lost 11-0 to the Auburndale Eagles. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

As for Auburndale, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.

For Auburndale's part, Morgan Griesbach made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Griesbach has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danika Blomberg, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Breleigh Grimm, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

While Assumption had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
