Softball Recap: Southeast Career Tech's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Southeast Career Tech had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-6 margin over the Foothill Falcons. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Bea Robinson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Robinson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game.

In other batting news, Aysia Suyat was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Laila Esparza, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Southeast Career Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothill only posted an OBP of .345.

Southeast Career Tech's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games. As for Foothill, they moved to 6-9-1 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southeast Career Tech will challenge Chaparral at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday. The Roadrunners are facing the Cowboys at the right time seeing as the Cowboys are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Foothill, they will square off against Las Vegas at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.29 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
