Game recap: Downers Grove North High School Football Team defeats Batavia

BATAVIA, Ill. - Batavia (Ill.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 22 in Illinois, but was stunned by Downers Grove North (Downers Grove, Ill.), 38-26. Downers Grove North was ranked at No. 121 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Illinois coming into the week.

The Trojans were up 24-13 at the half after taking the lead on a Brandon Salter touchdown run in the first quarter.

Downers Grove North expanded its lead to 12 points entering the fourth quarter. DGN scored once in the quarter on a touchdown catch by Richard Olekanma.

David Edwards and Salter ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Bulldogs. Edwards scored two touchdowns on the ground and Salter added two as well.

Batavia's Zachary Strittmatter played well. The senior wide receiver caught two touchdowns. He has now scored 13 touchdowns on the season.



BHS came in surrendering 15.9 points per game this season.

The loss comes after Batavia defeated Elgin 49-12 last week. The win was a nice bounce back for the Downers Grove school, which lost to Glenbard West last week, 26-0.
